Vue Entertainment is taking over the Odeon Printworks cinema in Manchester.
The deal is reflective of Vue’s successful ‘buy and build’ growth strategy and the takeover of the iconic 20 screen multiplex, which also features an IMAX screen, will see Vue’s portfolio increase to 86 sites throughout the UK & Ireland with further expansion slated through 2017 and beyond.
Vue will take over operation of the cinema in late May when there will be a short transition period to change signage and other operational changes such as new Point of Sale technology and the move to the new Vue website.
Vue are is committed to ensuring that the Printworks cinema continues to be a major part of the out-of-home leisure choices in the Manchester market. Vue is currently upgrading its London West End flagship and this will act as the template for this flagship cinema in the North of England. The highly successful IMAX auditorium will remain as part of the cinema offer and is due to be enhanced with new state-of-the-art laser projection technology in early 2018.
Kevin Styles, Managing Director UK & Ireland, Vue commented, ‘”We are delighted to have been able to secure the Printworks site and with it the opportunity to bring our premium big screen experience to customers in Manchester. Across our estate we provide our customers with the best choice of content, the best environment, the best technology and the best food and drink and Manchester Printworks will be no exception. We look forward to welcoming the team led by Steve Gleave, who currently operate the Printworks cinemas so successfully, into the Vue team and ensuring that the Printworks cinema continues to be a major part of the out-of-home leisure choices in the Manchester market.
