With LA Cinema in Trichy becoming home to the first Dolby Cinema in Tamil Nadu, the launch positions Trichy as a key destination for premium entertainment in the region and strengthens LA Cinema’s commitment to offering world-class exhibition experiences.
Sameer Seth, Director, Marketing – India, Dolby Laboratories, commented, “We are thrilled to bring Dolby Cinema to Tamil Nadu for the very first time. Tamil audiences have a deep-rooted passion for cinema and storytelling, and this launch in Trichy reflects our commitment to delivering the most spectacular and immersive experiences to moviegoers across India. As the fourth Dolby Cinema in the country, this milestone represents an important step in our journey to expand premium cinema experiences beyond metro cities and into key cultural hubs.”
Joseph Francis Adaikalaraj, Managing Director, LA Cinema, spoke on the occasion, “Introducing Tamil Nadu’s first Dolby Cinema at LA Cinema is a proud and landmark moment that reflects our legacy of innovation. LA Cinema has been an early adopter of Dolby’s groundbreaking innovations – we were among the pioneers of Dolby Atmos in India and were the first to bring that immersive sound experience to a balcony-seated screen. Today, we take that commitment a step further. Within our massive six-screen 1,520-seat multiplex, our specially designed 456-seat Dolby Cinema auditorium serves as the crown jewel. It allows us to offer an unmatched moviegoing experience—one that combines breathtaking visuals, powerful sound, and a distraction-free space to truly elevate how films are experienced. Our vision has always been to bring the very best global cinema innovations to Trichy, and this collaboration with Dolby makes that a reality.”
Kamal Haasan, Actor, Director, Producer, who inaugurated LA Cinema at Thiruverumbur, shared his excitement, “I’m proud that the first Indian film with Dolby SR was created by Rajkamal Films International way back in 1995. It takes courage to be the first to try something new, and I hope more of my friends in the industry will take that leap. To me, cinema is like a joint family; it truly comes alive only when everything comes together. With Dolby Cinema, that collective experience reaches an entirely new level. My relationship with the Adaikalaraj family has been longstanding, and I would like to congratulate them on opening Tamil Nadu’s first Dolby Cinema in Trichy.”
The launch comes as the content offerings in Dolby continue to grow, with over 860 theatrical features released or confirmed to be released in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to date globally, including all of the top 20 highest grossing films worldwide in 2025 as well as popular India titles like Baahubali: The Epic, Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1, War 2, Game Changer, Pushpa: The Rule - Part 2 to name a few. With this opening, LA Cinema joins the global network of Dolby Cinema exhibitors spanning 15 countries, further strengthening Dolby’s commitment to bringing world-class cinematic experiences to audiences across India.
