Dolby Laboratories, Incand Horizon Cinema announced that Horizon plans to open a brand new Dolby Atmos multiplex in Russia. The
13-screen multiplex, set to open by the end of 2017, will be the biggest Dolby Atmos multiplex in Russia, based in Rostov-on-Don.
Each screen will be equipped with the Dolby Integrated Media Server, IMS3000, the Dolby Multichannel Amplifier and SLS 3-Axis Speakers. The combination is designed to give audiences the most spectacular, fully immersive cinema experience available to date and offer a complete, integrated solution from 5.1 to Dolby Atmos, regardless of the size of an auditorium. Horizon has selected Cinemeccanica as its chosen technical partner and integrator to support with the installation of this significant project.
The announcement follows Dolby’s recent milestone of surpassing 100 Dolby Atmos screens in Russia and CIS. Dolby Atmos has quickly become the preferred choice for next generation sound in the cinema and has been embraced by major studios, directors, and exhibitors around the world. Currently, more than 2,800 Dolby Atmos screens have been installed or committed to in more than 75 countries. Over 700 titles have been announced with support from all major Hollywood studios.
