Vue Entertainment unveils a multi-million pound refurbishment of its iconic Leicester Square flagship that first opened in October 1938.
A £6.6 million investment will see Vue’s West End venue become the only one on the square to offer guests the choice of fully reclining leather seats; allowing film goers to choose their perfect view at a touch of a button and enjoy the optimum big screen experience. And for customers who don’t choose a recliner, all other seats will be ‘VIP’ and have been designed to be super spacious, with extra room to stretch out and relax.
Additionally, Vue West End will be among the first on Leicester Square with pin-sharp Dolby Atmos – which sees sound filling the auditorium from all directions, including overhead, so you feel like you are inside the action. With the big screen moment at the heart of everything Vue does all screens will also benefit from market leading Sony 4k digital projection.
There will be a total of 1,385 VIP and luxurious reclining seats at Vue West End across nine auditorium and each screen will offer the stepped style, stadium seating that Vue is synonymous with, guaranteeing a perfect unobstructed view every time.
Another part of the refurbishment sees the installation of Vue’s next generation retail offer with two new hot food concessions – Square Pie and Pizzeria Maletti – as well as a complete redesign of the foyer and existing bar area. A 62.7m² digital screen will also be installed on the exterior of the building.
Kevin Styles, Managing Director Vue UK & I commented ‘We’re delighted to unveil our plans for our market leading West End venue that will establish us as the very best in premium big screen entertainment on the square and cement our reputation for providing the most innovative cinematic experience. Across our estate we provide our customers with the best choice of content, the best environment, the best technology and the best food and drink and our West End flagship is no exception’.
Vue West End will also offer paperless ticketing – an advancement that Vue has been championing across nine sites since August 2016 – as well as the ability to connect to all of Vue’s other 84 locations across the UK & Ireland for conferencing purposes.
